RED HILLS MARKET

• How long has your business been part of the Dundee community?

  15 years since it opened, but the concept started over 5 years prior to opening, including the 2 years of building before we opened.

• What inspired you to establish your business in Dundee?

  Small town love of the area with the opportunity to create a community gathering hub with local goodness. “Local goodness” is a term we use to describe the local bounty we get to utilize in building delicious menu items that pair with local wine, beer and craft cocktails.

• What do you love most about serving this community and the guests?

  The opportunity to bring people together, hear their laughter & see smiles on their faces while enjoying our good food in our cozy environment.

ROOTS & HISTORY

• Tell us a bit about your personal or family story, and how you planted your roots in this community.

  We looked high & low throughout Oregon for a small town full of passion, creativity & talent we would want to raise children & live in. Dundee was this place! We have lived here for 24 years.

• How has your business evolved over time?

  Over the years, we've been able to partner/collaborate with local wineries and craft producers to build wines & products for our restaurant/market.

• What historical moments or community events have shaped your business story?

  The birth of our two boys & saying goodbye to loved family members have impacted every part of our business from the style of food we serve, dining environment & who we want to be in the community.

• What do you think your business contributes to the town’s identity or character?

  We are proud to set a standard of passion, quality & "local goodness" in a comfortable, welcoming way.

• How do you see your business as part of the community fabric?

  It's just the place you go when you want to meet up and do life together.

• Are there other local businesses or individuals who’ve inspired or supported you along the way?

  Definitely - Rollin Soles, Alan Holstein, Jesse Lange, Cody & Marque Wright are all local business owners who have inspired us since day 1!

• What does community support mean to you as a business owner?

  As a small business owner, it's basically everything.

• What do you hope visitors or locals feel when they walk through your doors?

  A warm welcome, connection to the community & a sense of our passion in all we do.

  We say we create community through good food & drink.

  With fond memories of a place to celebrate both big & small, and a great place to work.

• If your story could teach something about Dundee, what would it be?

  It's so much more than a traffic jam.

VISUAL STORYTELLING

• If your business story were expressed visually (through art, signage, or photography), what colors, symbols, or imagery would represent it best?

  The red in our logo is color-matched to Jory clay soil from the red hills of Dundee - and the pig in our logo is a truffle pig who found a delicious bottle of local pinot noir in the Dundee Hills while truffle hunting one day.

• Do you have any photos or artifacts (past or present) that help tell your story?

  Yes - our 1950's International Harvester wood-fired oven truck named "Rex" after Jody's dad. We additionally built our building on what was a filbert orchard when we purchased the property.
